The museum regularly puts on special programs, including music and holiday related themes.

Located in a restored, 1800s, former hotel., with ample off-street parking. Its located within blocks of the heart of downtown Dsvenport, riverfront parks, and the minor league baseball park.

We came from Germany to visit the German American Heritage Center in Davenport, IA. We were surprised to be greeted by a fluent German speaking lady (Mrs. Hofmann).

Loved our tour! Definitely a diamond find in the QC that more locals should know about and visit! Very impressive!

A current, smaller display is of the magician Harry Houdini, and includes video clips of him performing, and artifacts such as some of the handcuffs he used in his performances.

The museum has a gift store, a couple restored rooms from it's days as a hotel, an extensive display of the history of German immigration to the Midwest and how it related to events happening in Germany, as well as artifacts and stories relating to immigrant life in Davenport from the early 1800s to the early 1900s.

Excellent..the history of WW 1 treatment of my German ancestors is terrible.. very educational.. worth a visit

Being a third generation German, this museum really made me feel at home. Plus the history they have is astonishing.

The building is handicap accessible, and has an elevator to the upper floors.

Currently there is a large display related to the WWI time period, and the suspicion and animosity towards Germans in the area. The State of Iowa even passed laws forbidding the use of the German language.

In the exhibition, sometimes a golden thread is missing, but all is educational and made with passion for detail. We enjoyed the stay, thanks alot!
