We went to Davenport & stopped in to see this store because, we had never been there before, and my aunt mentioned she saw it on Paula Sands last year. The lady was extremely rude & unprofessional. My mom asked if she sold any empty wine bottles because, she has a display in our kitchen, as well as unopened & full wine bottles. Diane replied, "Why would I do that?" In a very snarky way. They have lost my aunt's business, as well as mine & my mom's. We will never return! I could see this location closing, as well due to her EXTREMELY RUDE attitude. If Diane is the owner, she needs to learn some customer service tips!! I, also would maybe recommend using a tiny bit of that granite countertop space for possibly a sample of the day, or something because, when you are a new customer some people don't know what your wine tastes like. Is it like what your favorite brand would taste like from the supermarket? Honestly, save your money and go to Wide River, or your local winery. They offer SO many sample choices before you buy a bottle & they have wine slushies (my favorite).
I parked in the spot that says grape life parking only. I had to run into the bank next door before meeting a couple friends to buy last minute Christmas gifts. A lady the popped her head out the door and told me I couldn't park there. I told her I was going in there but had to stop in the bank first, she told me parking for the bank was "over there" and pointed at the bottom lot. I repeated telling her I was going into her store. She told me to leave. She lost a customer. She's now out several hundred dollars. I don't recommend coming here.
Owner came out and screamed at me for parking in front of her building before even asking if i was a customer. Sad part is, i LOVE wine. But after being greeted at the door so rudely i would NEVER step foot in that place nor recommend it.
Great Selection of wines both for sale and for purchasing by the glass. Lots going on. You are never hurried.
I have visited the grape life with friends several times since returning to the quad cities. In the past, the woman, whom I assume is the owner, was always quick to ask if we wanted another glass and was always pleasant. Last night while there with several friends, she was accommodating and kind as usual, then her husband arrived... I don't know if he was inconvenienced by being there or if he feels it is beneath him to wait on people. Requesting my 3rd and last glass of wine i waited to catch his eye across the room and raised my glass. He come over and said "use your voice or I will have to cut you off". Really?? After spending 3 hours there? I may go back however, I will go to the bar to refill my wine glass if he is "helping wait on tables". Or I may simply suggest that we meet at the new wine bar on 53rd, I hope they know how to treat customers.
